London-based artist Christian Newby’s practice is extensive, ranging from textile works, to screen prints, stained glass, and watercolour paintings. The artist draws on interior design and domestic settings to produce works in which familiar entities appear distorted, or reconfigured, their properties altered as part of Newby’s understanding of ‘images as objects in need of further subjective clarity’. Regularly collaborating with other artists, including his wife Ana Martínez Fernández, Newby situates his work within a broader narrative of interdisciplinary practice, one that engages ideas of communication, authorship and originality.
