Photographer and filmmaker Clément Cogitore fuses avant-garde cinema with enigmatic storytelling to produce films that explore man’s relationship to nature, the surreal, and the supernatural. He often eschews excessive digital effects in favour of rudimentary cinematographic instruments and experimental screenshot techniques, the texture and immediacy of which are felt in works such as his critically acclaimed feature film, Ni Le Ciel, Ni La Terre (2015). Cogitore’s work has been shown at international film festivals (Cannes, Locarno, Lisbon, Montreal), as well as at MoMA (New York), the Centre Pompidou (Paris) and the Museum of Fine Art in Boston.
