Joe Reihsen’s densely textured panels combine motion with a heavy stillness, capturing collisions between the surface and the layers beneath. Elusive metaphors in the works’ titles – for example, U Have the Sweetest Blue Eyes (2014) and Negotiating Texting Protocols (2014) – transform the pieces into enigmatic twists in an unknown narrative.
