b. Germany 1979
Being primarily known as a painter, Kerstin Brätsch is a German contemporary visual artist which also developed work collaboratively as DAS INSTITUT, with the artist Adele Roder, and KAYA, with the artist Debo Eilers. Currently living and working in New York City, where she received a Masters in Fine Arts from Columbia University, Brätsch often creates large-‐scale and highly abstract works that combine multiple medias, bucking against tradition in the unusual display of her works. The artist was awarded the August Macke Prize in 2014 and the Edvard Munch Art Award in 2017.
