Markus Amm has been exploring over time how the materials of paintings cohere into abstract images, resulting in a variety of works which can be either luminous and illusionistic or sculptural, and sometimes both simultaneously. Being interested in how perception of time informs the processes of making art and looking at it, the processes he uses require long periods of waiting and looking which is reflected on the questions presented by the artist about how we distinguish action and reflection.
