Milano Chow creates meticulous and almost habitable spaces working primarily in graphite, photo transfer and collage, punctuating by female figures in somewhat androgynous dress her enigmatic nocturnal scenes, classical architectural elevations and floor plans. The artist explores the nuanced ways that architectural space and ornamentation can project an ambience of taste and style, sourcing the women inhabiting her drawings from fashion magazines selected for their aura of artificiality, dresses in disparate styles, appearing simultaneously assertive and aloof, a reflection of the space their occupy.
