Reuben Beren James is an English artist concerned with themes of abstraction and appropriationHis work attempts to exploit the abstract mark, adopting gesture and erasure as well as digital and mechanical forms of production to explore authenticity in contemporary abstract painting. Paint is his primary medium, through which he creates abstract forms that are then transformed into images and manipulated digitally. These images are then reproduced using techniques such as screen printing and are then re- engaged with physically with the use of paint.
